You Are Invited!
These are the first two events of the Biochar 2025 Cook Off.
What is a Biochar Cook Off?
1) Biochar/soil experts submit their best biochar use recipes.
2) Local gardeners test these recipes
3) These gardeners vote for their favorite recipe.
4) The winners are announced at an Awards Banquet.
What is Biochar?
Biochar is formed by burning biomass in a low oxygen environment.
When properly added to soil it greatly improves
1) soil fertility,
2) reduces the risk of wildfires, and
3) keeps carbon out of the atmosphere fighting climate change.
High Level Cook Off Schedule
Dec. 2024 to Feb. 2025: Multiple Biochar Production Events.
Jan. 2025 and Feb. 2025: Solicite competing biochsr recipes and the gardeners who will test them.
Mar. 2025: Distribute recipes to gardeners who will test them.
Mar. 2025 to May 2025: Watch the plants gro. Take photos. Promote gathering where gsardeners can compre early results and lobby for their favorite recies.
June 2025: The gardeners vote. We tally the results and announce the winners at the Awards Banquet.

Biochar and/or Soil Expert: Are you an experienced biochar user? Do you have a favorite char use recipe? Come share it with us and we will enter you in the cook off for a chance to win the gold.
Gardener: Are you curious about the benefits of biochar? Help us test the submitted recipes? Help decide who wins the gold?
The Secret Committee: I wnt to help manage the competition,
The Awards Banquet: I want to help with the Awards Banquet.
Volunteer: I just want to help.
