My name is Sandy Miller and I appreciate the avenue to express and share my thoughts with my community, about our community. My hopes are to share with you all that is going on in our growing town, and I’ll hope you will do the same. The more we tell each other, the more informed we become and the more we show up for each other and our community.

A perfect example is on April 21st, I attended the Paradise Community Chorus Concert. “Together, in Song”. There are 35 members in the chorus under the direction of Sam Gronseth, a long time resident and music teacher for many years, ( thank you Sam). A special bonus was performances by the Chico State Jazz Club, and the Pleasant Valley (HS) Viking Voices choral group. Worthy of noting, both these groups were under the direction and leadership of Paradise HS Alumni. I was in the audience watching one of my High School Theatre class students be a leader for young people and inspiring them with music. I could feel my heart swelling. Also in performance we got a glimpse of the Northern California Ballet sneak preview of their up and coming production “ Cinderella” appearing at the Paradise Performing Arts Center on May 17 &18.

The concert was joyful and music filled the auditorium. There is only one thing that would have made it better and that would be more people in the audience. My desire is for us to pay attention to what is going on around us. Find out what’s going on in town. Attend, show up. When I was telling people about the concert, I heard several times, “Oh, I wished I would have known about it!”. As citizens of this amazing community we have much to celebrate, and it’s as easy as paying attention and showing up!
