You make and appointment for Wednesday. New merchandise arrives on Tuesday and put on shelves. By Thursday much of the best has been claimed.
Imagine a thrift store that carried only new merchandise. Now imagine that thrift store priced every item the same – $0.00. Imagine again that they carried furniture, couches, tables, bedroom sets, electronic devices of all sorts, dishes, appliances, etc. In short anything that Walmart, Amazon, or Costco might carry. Sound to good to be true. Well this time it is true. The only requirement is that you are a victim of Camp Fire and that you fill out a form saying so.
You might be asking how is this possible. The merchandise are returns to Amazon, Costco, and Walmart. Overhead cost for building, equipment, and some of the staff are paid by the Paradise Adventist Church. It is a part of their growing community outreach and collaboration programs.
Every week a group goes to a distribution center where they pick up items and bring them to the Love Give center in Paradise. They bring up large and small items. The small items are thrown into large boxes whose contents are unknown until they are opened and placed on the shelves at Love Give.
The staff reports they have to actively encourage people to take items. Most people are reluctant. The staff is insistent, pointing out that they need to get the stuff out because a new load comes in next week.
If you don’t find something you are looking for, tell the staff. They keep lists and will call you if something comes in.
Step into a world where generosity knows no bounds and hope rises from the ashes. Picture a thrift store unlike any other, where the shelves overflow with brand-new treasures waiting to find a new home. Now, imagine every item in this store priced at an unbelievable $0.00. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? But this time, it’s not a dream—it’s reality.
Welcome to the Love Give center in Paradise, a beacon of light in the aftermath of devastation. Here, those affected by wildfires are invited to shop for essentials and luxuries alike, all courtesy of the Paradise Adventist Church’s unwavering commitment to community outreach.
The secret behind this extraordinary generosity? Returns from retail giants like Amazon, Costco, and Walmart find new purpose here. These items, once destined for disposal, now have the chance to bring joy and comfort to those who need it most.
Every week, a dedicated team makes the journey to distribution centers, returning with a bounty of goods ranging from furniture to electronics, appliances to kitchenware. But there’s a twist—each box is a mystery, its contents unveiled only upon opening. It’s like a treasure hunt every time you step through the doors.
Yet, amidst the abundance, there’s a surprising challenge—the reluctance of those in need to accept such generosity. But the Love Give staff are determined, reminding visitors that every item must find a new home to make room for the next shipment.
And if you don’t find what you’re looking for today? Don’t worry. The staff keeps meticulous lists and promises to reach out when your desired item arrives.
